55 Alive Driving

  • 55 Alive is a driver retraining course for seniors that have upcoming road tests.
  • This program follows criteria set out by the Ministry of Transportation; it is a six hour course that runs over two or three days
  • The following is reviewed during the course:
    i.  Review of safety principles
    ii.  Defensive driving techniques
    iii. Minor vehicle maintenance
    iv. Theory of driver preparation
  •  55 Alive Sessions are held three times per year throughout Lambton County. Phone the office for upcoming dates, times and locations.

55 Alive Driving-Volunteer Information

  • As a 55 Alive Driving Instructor you will provide instruction to clients as set out by the Ministry of Transportation.
  • The purpose of this program is to provide an overview and refresher course for seniors who have to take a drivers test
  • You are required to have a minimum secondary school education, and 55Alive Course Certification. LEO will arrange dates and times for you to take the 55 Alive Certification. LEO will cover the cost of the certification program.
  • Sessions are held three times throughout the year. Sessions are held according to instructor availability.
  • Sessions are held throughout Lambton County
  • Volunteers are reimbursed kilometers driven to and from the program locations.
